The "Chinese solution" provided by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the latest Group of 20 (G20) summit has been widely praised, said a senior Chinese diplomatic official on Tuesday.
President Xi Jinping conveyed China's confidence, offered China's proposals and expounded China's views and policies at the summit, said Zhang Jun, Director General of the Department of International Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during an exclusive interview with Xinhuanet.
“President Xi raised new ideas of innovative development, interconnected growth and integrated interests at the summit, which is in line with China's interests, also in line with the common interests of all countries,” he said.
“China's economic slowdown in the first half of this year has increased the global worry,” Zhang said, “ President Xi stressed that China has the conditions and abilities to achieve a sustainable and sound economic development and create for other countries an even broader market and more development space.”
President Xi made powerful voice for China, proposing to build a closer partnership among members and to maintain and develop an open world economy, Zhang said.
President Xi also actively advanced the process of the summit and coordinated with various parties, which constructively drove the summit to achieve positive results, he added.
“The ‘Chinese solution’ provided by President Xi has been widely praised,” he said.
In addition, President Xi also met with political leaders from Russia, the United States, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, and Germany and WTO's new Director General during the meeting.
They exchanged views on political and major international economic issues.
“The interaction between the leaders of the major powers plays an important role in both promoting economic cooperation and the maintenance of world peace and stability,” Zhang stressed.
