Baby returned to parents after allegedly being trafficked

A woman surnamed Dong cries as holding her newborn baby and her elder daughter in arms at the Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital in Fuping County, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, Aug. 5, 2013. The baby who was allegedly sold to human traffickers by an obstetrician about 20 days ago was returned to his parents, Lai Guofeng and his wife, on Monday. DNA tests confirmed the baby is Lai's son. The baby was allegedly sold for 21,600 yuan (3,494 U.S. dollars) by an obstetrician surnamed Zhang in the morning of July 17, one day after he was born in Fuping County Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital. The baby was found in a township in Anyang City of neighboring Henan Province on Sunday and was in good condition. Zhang and five other suspects involved in the case have been detained on suspicion of human trafficking. (Xinhua/Ding Haitao)
