CHANGSHA, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Police in Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan Province, announced Wednesday that they have apprehended a suspect in a 2002 murder case.
Police approached the suspect, a 30-year-old woman surnamed Hu from Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province, in a karaoke bar in Changsha after they received tips suggesting she did not have a valid identification card.
After confirming the woman's identity, police were able to link her to a murder and dismemberment case reported in 2002 in the south China city of Shenzhen.
Hu allegedly strangled her cousin in a rented house where they lived as migrant workers in Shenzhen. She also allegedly dismembered the body and disposed of the body parts before fleeing the city.
Changsha police are handing the case over to Shenzhen police for further investigation.
