A fake talent agent who blackmailed a woman into giving him 3,000 yuan (US$483) by threatening to leak her nude photos has been arrested on a charge of extortion, Minhang District prosecutors said yesterday.
The victim, Zhang Ou, said she met the suspect, identified as Wei Zhen, through instant messages on January 16. Wei claimed he was a talent agent, she said. The next day, Zhang met Wei to sign an agreement. Wei grabbed the agreement and added terms saying that Zhang had agreed to be a prostitute as well as service charges, prosecutors said.
Zhang said she was forced to take nude photos. Wei also asked Zhang to sleep with him or give him 5,000 yuan, or he would find people to gang rape her, prosecutors said. Zhang paid him 3,000 yuan on January 18 but couldn't get her nude photos back so she went to police.
