BEIJING, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- A 4.8-magnitude earthquake jolted Heyuan City in south China's Guangdong Province at 11:34 a.m. Friday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.
As of 2 p.m., no casualties had been reported though three houses toppled over in Dongyuan County, where the epicenter was located, the local government said.
The quake was strongly felt in Heyuan, with the cities of Guangzhou and Shenzhen also affected.
The local government has sent work groups to the affected areas to carry out further checks for casualties and damage.
The epicenter, with a depth of 11 km, was monitored at 23.9 degrees north latitude and 114.5 degrees east longitude, the center said.
A 4.2-magnitude earthquake also jolted the border area of Yongsheng County and Ninglang Yi Autonomous County of Lijiang City in southwest China's Yunnan Province Friday morning.
