5 killed, 1 injured in E China car collision

HEFEI, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Five people were killed and another was injured in an auto collision in east China's Anhui Province, local police said Tuesday.

The accident happened at 2:05 p.m. on the No. 201 Provincial Highway in Lingbi county. A car collided with a taxi and caught fire, while the taxi overturned into a roadside ditch, local traffic police said.

The injured person is in stable condition.

Traffic near the site of the accident resumed around 4 p.m., according to the police.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is under way.
