BEIJING, October 29 (ChinaMil) -- Fan Changlong, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China (PRC), met with Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, the visiting chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, in Beijing on the afternoon of October 28, 2013.
Fan Changlong said that China and Pakistan are good neighbors of peaceful coexistence, good friends of mutual trust and good partners for common development. The China-Pakistan all-weather friendship is a strategic choice made by the people of the two countries, it is in the fundamental interests of the two countries and their people, and has played an important role in maintaining regional security and stability.
In recent years, the relations between the Chinese and Pakistani militaries have been developed steadily, which is an important embodiment of China-Pakistan friendship. At present, the international and regional situations are undergoing complex changes, and against the backdrop, the two militaries need to further strengthen strategic cooperation, communicate and consult with each other on major issues, and further deepen pragmatic cooperation and expand personnel exchanges on the present basis, so as to constantly promote the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries and the two militaries to a new high.
Kayani said that the Pakistani side regards Pakistan-China relations as the most important strategic relations, and hopes that the two militaries will further deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields and promote exchanges among the younger generation, so as to promote comprehensive and sustainable development of the relations between the two countries and the two militaries.
Hou Shusen, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), and Masood Khalid, Pakistani ambassador to China, were present at the meeting.
