Fan Changlong meets with PLA athletes and coaches

SHENYANG, September 2 (ChinaMil) -- Fan Changlong, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the CPC, met with representatives of the athletes and coaches of the delegation of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) that who participate in the 12th National Games of the People's Republic of China (PRC), and extended greetings to all the members of the PLA delegation on behalf of CMC Chairman Xi Jinping and the CMC on August 31, 2013 in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning province.

Fan Changlong pointed out that the PLA sports have long flourished and made remarkable achievements, playing an important role in enhancing officers and men's physical fitness and improving troop units' combat effectiveness. He hoped that the athletes would carry on the PLA's fine traditions, regard arenas as battlefields and compete for championships.

The PLA delegation to the 12th National Games, composed of 28 sports teams with 752 athletes in total, will take part in the finals of 257 events in 28 sports.

Wang Jiaocheng, commander of the Shenyang Military Area Command (MAC) of the PLA, Chu Yimin, political commissar of the PLA Shenyang MAC, and leaders of the CMC General Office attended the meeting.
