'Zheng He' ship leaves ROK for Malaysia

The "Zheng He" oceangoing training ship of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLAN) wrapped up its friendly visit to the Republic of Korea (ROK), and left the dock of the Jinhae-gu naval port for Malaysia on the morning of August 8, 2013.

During the four-day-long visit to the ROK, Real Admiral Jiang Guoping, commander of the mission and president of the Dalian Naval Academy of the PLAN, and his party met with president of the ROK Naval Academy, commander of the Operations Command of the ROK Navy and deputy mayor of Busan City. They also visited the ROK Naval Academy, the Jinhae-gu naval base and the Chungmugong Yi Sun-sin guided missile destroyer.

The midshipmen of the Dalian Naval Academy and soldiers on the "Zheng He" ship carried out cultural and sports exchanges with midshipmen of the ROK Naval Academy and soldiers of the guided missile destroyer "Choi Young" of the ROK Navy respectively.

During their stay in the ROK, four midshipmen on the Chinese naval training ship were invited to the ROK Naval Academy, where they trained and lived together with the ROK midshipmen.

The "Zheng He" ship held a ship open day to overseas Chinese and Chinese nationals, local residents as well as the ROK soldiers and midshipmen.

The "Zheng He" training ship is scheduled to arrive at the Kota Kinabalu Port in eight days and kick off a friendly visit to Malaysia on August 16.
