Fang Fenghui, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), held talks with Atcha Titikpina, the visiting chief of staff of the Togolese Armed Forces, on the afternoon of December 4, 2012 in Beijing.
Fang Fenghui said that there is profound traditional friendship between the people of China and Togo, and the two countries have achieved remarkable results from their cooperation in such fields as politics, economy,culture and so on. He also said, as an important part of the relations between the two countries, the friendly relations between the two militaries have shown momentum of sustainable and stable development in recent years as evidenced by fruitful results from exchanges and cooperation in various fields.
Fang Fenghui expressed that the Chinese military is willing to make joint efforts with the Togolese military to deepen traditional friendship and promote pragmatic cooperation. He also briefed Titikpina on the building of the Chinese military.
Titikpina said that Togo adheres to the one-China policy. Over the years, the two militaries have established fraternal friendship and the Chinese military has provided the Togolese military with valuable assistance. The Togolese side is willing to work together with the Chinese side to deepen pragmatic cooperation and further improve the relations between the two militaries.
Before the talks, Fang Fenghui held a welcome ceremony for Titikpina and accompanied him to review the guard of honor of the three services of the PLA.
