BEIJING, Dec. 24 -- China's national political advisors on Tuesday called for stricter car emission control and higher quality of oil products to reduce city air pollution, at a biweekly symposium.
Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended the symposium and exchanged ideas with the advisors.
Advisors said that reducing air pollution is a systematic project which needs integrated management on the prevention and treatment of mobile pollutants and the development of public transport system.
Political advisors also raised proposals on accelerating the development of energy-saving and environmental logistic systems, weeding out old vehicles and promoting new energy automobiles.
Haze monitoring and alerts should also be improved and relevant laws and regulations on air pollution should be perfected, the advisors said.
