China Marine Surveillance, part of the State Oceanic Administration (SOA), announced on Friday, fines of more than 670 million yuan (110 million U.S. dollars) had been collected during a campaign against illegal use of ocean areas.
Penalties had been imposed in 59 cases from a total of 74, by Oct. 10.
The ongoing action, which got underway in April, severely punishes unlawful use of sea areas, ensuring fair use of pelagic resources and protecting the interests of rightful users.
