The U.S. Navy's latest nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, the "Ford", will be deployed in 2015. According to analysts, it will start a new round of revolution in sea battle technology. Comparing the aircraft carrier technology of China and the U.S., major general Yin Zhuo told the media in an interview that China's aircraft carrier would determine its own path rather than blindly following other trends, however, it should make an effort to bridge the gap with the U.S. in terms of military technology and try to compete on the same platform.

The "Ford's" tonnage is 100,000. It is the first of the U.S. Navy's new generation of Ford -class nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, and with a price tag of USD 13.7 billion it is the most costly vessel in the history of U.S. and world navies. Following deployment in 2015, it is estimated that the "Ford" will enter full and formal service in 2016.

According to some analysts, the "Ford" will have a significant impact on existing naval equipment. Media have already reported that its technical innovations include a comprehensive power system, an electromagnetic aircraft launch system , and modifications to battle software.

Yin Zhuo emphasized that China was developing its aircraft carriers in accordance with its sea rights and interests, its security requirements, and its operational requirements. We are following our own path.

But Yin Zhuo does believe that China should make a great effort to bridge the generation gap with the U.S. in terms of military technology, and that the ideal result will be that no generation gap exists between China and U.S. He pointed out that China's aircraft carrier will also gradually follow the path of technical revolution, creating an information based vessel with an electromagnetic aircraft launch system, and a comprehensive electronic system.
