BEIJING, Oct. 20 -- A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Sunday called for enhanced study of Marxism to provide theoretical support for a great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Liu Yunshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at a symposium on the study and development of Marxism.
The research and development of Marxism must focus on the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics, which is the pivot of the whole work of the Party and the government, said Liu, who is also secretary of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.
"We need to have Chinese scholars to interpret the miracle of China using theories of Chinese origin," said Liu at the symposium.
He also stressed that it is crucial to apply the results of Marxism study to the reality, and that only through sinicization can Marxism be understood by the Chinese people.
