Xi appoints Cui Tiankai as new ambassador to U.S.

BEIJING, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Cui Tiankai has been appointed as China's new ambassador to the United States.

President Xi Jinping made the appointment in line with a decision made by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature.

Cui Tiankai replaced Zhang Yesui.
