LOS ANGELES, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- "Life of Pi," "Anna Karenina" and "Skyfall" were recognized by the Art Directors Guild's voters when the three films finished as the major award winners from the 17th annual Excellence in Production Design Awards Saturday night.
Director Ang Lee's first 3-D fantasy film "Life of Pi" was named the winner in the fantasy film category at the awards ceremony held at the Beverly Hilton. "Anna Karenina" won best production design in a period film, while "Skyfall" won over fellow nominees for contemporary film.
Herman Zimmerman, whose career was best known for his work on "Star Trek," won the year' s lifetime achievement award, repeating his win in 1996 for for his work on the pilot episode of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine."
At the event emceed by comedian Paula Poundstone, the guild paid tribute to the production designers behind the 23 James Bond film "Skyfall," honoring the franchise's 50th anniversary. The film was also recognized for Outstanding Contribution to Cinematic Imagery.
The guild handed out nine awards in recognition of the year's best in film, television, commercials and music videos during the event.
