SHANGHAI, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Australian cyclist Annette Edmondson won the final stage and sat in first overall in the Tour of Chongming Island on Friday, winning her first title as a professional.
Edmondson became the final yellow jersey wearer with an overall record of six hours 29 minutes and 26 seconds, one second ahead of Australia's Chloe Hosking of Hitec Products UCK, who won the yellow jersey in the second stage of the tour.
The 18-year-old Argos-Shimano rider Lucy Garner ended third, lustering her sprinting to first place in the opening stage.
Edmondson credited her teammates with guiding her throughout the three-day tour.
"It's the first time I've won a yellow jersey in this kind of tour. It's really special, but more amazing is how my team backed me," said Edmondson in a news conference after the competition.
Hosking expressed disappointments over the one-second lose, but she said her ultimate goal aims at the upcoming UCI Women Road World Cup 2013 on May 12th.
Huang Dongyan of team Giant came 56th.
The three-day Tour of Chongming Island 2013, registered continental 2.1- the highest level of its kind in Asia, consists of three stages.
