HONG KONG, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong Ocean Park announced Friday that entrance fee for adults will be raised to 320 HK dollars (about 41.24 U.S. dollars) and for children to 160 HK dollars, both will be up about 1.4 percent.
The new prices will become effective on Sept. 1, the local theme park announced, saying operating costs have surged 33 percent over the past two years as the reason of the markup.
Hong Kong residents will receive a 15 percent discount during the first two months under the new pricing.
Chairman of Hong Kong Ocean Park Allan Zeman said the park, as a self-financed, not-for-profit organization, needs to continuously maintain a proper balance in the price structure so that it will not become a burden to taxpayers.
"We are glad to note that the new structure will remain the lowest among comparable theme parks in the region," he said. (1 U. S. dollar = 7.76 HK dollars)
