MACAO, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Macao's visitor arrivals in March this year reached 2,387,281, up slightly by 1.6 percent over the same month of 2012, according to figures released on Tuesday by the city's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
The figure showed that visitors from the Chinese mainland decreased by 1.1 percent year on year to 1.43 million, with 582,774 traveling to Macao under the Individual Visit Scheme, up by 4.8 percent from March 2012.
Of the total visitor arrivals in March, those from Taiwan (80,651) and Japan (28,719) dropped by 0.3 percent and 27.2 percent respectively, while those from Hong Kong (612,367) and the Republic of Korea (36,786) increased by 9.0 percent and 8.3 percent respectively, the DSEC figures indicated.
The figure also showed that visitor arrivals totaled 7,076,442 in the first quarter of 2013, up by 1.9 percent year-on-year.
