Alipay, a popular third-party online payment platform in China, said Monday that mobile payments during the Spring Festival holidays were 4.7 times greater than last year, reaching a record high proportion of 24 percent of Alipay's total sales figures.
According to news portal sohu.com, the record high came on February 9, the lunar new year's eve, and smartphone shopping, prepaid phone recharging, credit card payments, and mobile banking transfers were the most frequently used services of the holiday season. During the Spring Festival period, new Alipay mobile phone users were up 91.9 percent year-on-year.
