TOKYO, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- Nikkei closed lower on Monday in Tokyo as investors' wait-and-see attitude on the Bank of Japan's two-day policy meeting.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 165.56 points, or 1.52 percent, from Friday to 10,747.74.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 6.28 points, or 0.69 percent, at 905. 16.
Losers were the insurance, warehouse and foods sectors, while gainers were oil and mining firms.
The turnover was about 1,794.9 billion yen (about 20.03 billion U.S. dollars).
