HONG KONG, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Passenger fuel surcharges will be reduced in January, the Civil Aviation Department of Hong Kong said on Wednesday.
The new maximum fuel surcharges will be 230 HK dollars (29.68 U. S. dollars) for short-haul flights and 971 HK dollars for long- haul flights, which represent reductions of 5 percent and 10 percent respectively.
The applicable surcharge levels are based on the ticket issue date.
The maximum surcharges were 243 HK dollars for short-haul flights and 1,081 HK dollars for long-haul flights in November. (1 U.S. dollar equals 7.75 HK dollars)
