San Francisco, Dec. 11, (People's Daily Online)----The most peaceful and poetic Christmas tree of San Francisco "World Tree of Hope" was lightened in the city hall on Tuesday night.
The Christmas tree is decorated with more than 7,000 white origami cranes which are inscribed with wishes from people all over the world. Wishes from the President to school children, from San Francisco to Sri Lanka, including President Barack Obama, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee. U.S. President Barack Obama's wish reads "I wish for a world for our children most just, more fair, and more kind than the one we know."
The tree is a gift from the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community ----"Rainbow World Fund" to inspire hope and to encourage people to think about what they would like for the future of the world. Mayor Lee said at the lighting ceremony that he will continue his efforts to ensure the equal rights of the LGBT group.
The tree will be on view at San Francisco City Hall from December 1st to January 2.
