A new trial against former President Alberto Fujimori started on Thursday, on charges of funnelling public money to "chicha newspapers". The first day of the trial was turbulent so the judges suspended the proceedings and rescheduled for Oct. 28, according to local media. Fujimori was convicted in 2009 of authorizing a government- backed death squad to kill 25 people in the course of Peru's war against the Shining Path rebel group and is serving a 25-year prison sentence.
