CAIRO, Aug. 7 -- Egyptian interim President Adli Mansour said on Wednesday evening that Egypt is moving toward achieving the desired future roadmap, noting that diplomatic efforts have failed to produce a political solution to the ongoing crisis so far.
In a televised speech on the eve of Eid al-Fitr, a Muslim feast marking the end of the fasting month of Ramadan, Mansour called on all Egyptians to denounce violence and avoid bloodshed in compliance with the spirit of such holy occasions.
"Some people think they are able to cripple the historic movement, stop the time machine and defy the people's will and desire for a promising future," said the interim president.
Mansour's statements came after international and Arab efforts failed to bridge the division between supporters of ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi, mostly Islamists from the Muslim Brotherhood group, and Egypt's new leadership.
So far, all diplomatic efforts have not achieved the desired success, "despite the full support provided by the Egyptian government," noted Mansour.
The interim president added that Egypt would still welcome all efforts that would support the country's post-Morsi roadmap.
