CAIRO, July 25 (Xinhua) -- The Egyptian National Defense Council headed by interim President Adli Mansour said Thursday that the state would not allow any one to terrorize the people and would take all necessary measures to defeat terrorism.
In a statement, the Council stressed "the state's commitment to guaranteeing the people's freedom and rights as well as the freedom of expression with peaceful means" in light of the current developments that threaten the community peace and the national security.
"The state is also committed to protecting citizens regardless their affiliations and will not allow anyone to threaten internal security or carry weapons to spread terrorism," the statement added, noting that all state institutions would take necessary measures to "deter" the outlaws.
On late Wednesday, the Council held a meeting following the army chief Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi's call for rallies on Friday to justify a crackdown on potential violence.
