OSAKA, July 1 (Xinhua)-- A man and a woman were killed and another man went missing after a fire broke out Monday morning in a family home in the western Japanese prefecture of Hyogo, local fire officials said.
The house fire occurred at around 3:30 a.m. local time at the two-story wooden building in Himeji City of the prefecture, according to a spokesperson for the fire department of the city.
The spokesperson said that the initial fire further spread to nearby four houses built in a residential zone of the city, and firefighters put out the fire by 9:00 a. m. although those wooden houses were completely or partially destroyed by the fire.
He added that the firefighters found the two bodies inside the family home. The victims, a man and a woman, have yet to be officially identified but they are believed to be in their 60s. The firefighters are also looking for the missing man.
A joint police and fire department investigation is being carried out to establish the cause of the blaze.
