AMMAN, June 27 (Xinhua) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan said Thursday that Israel's unilateral measures and repeated violations against sacred Islamic and Christian sites in Jerusalem undermined peace opportunities, the state-run Petra news agency reported.
The Jordanian leader made the remarks at a meeting with visiting U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, when the two sides underlined the need for resuming peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians on the basis of the two-state solution.
The king said Jordan would continue its efforts to help resume the peace talks, adding that the sole way to peace and stability in the Middle East is to establish a viable and independent Palestinian state in accordance to the 1967 borders.
For his part, Kerry hailed Jordan's efforts in helping revive the talks and make peace in the Middle East.
