VLADIVOSTOK, June 7 (Xinhua) -- A Mil Mi-8 helicopter with five people onboard went missing on Thursday in Russia's Far East, RIA Novosti news agency reported.

The helicopter, with four crew members, one passenger and about three tons of cargo (fish and foodstuffs) on board, lost contact with air controllers at 12:20 Moscow time Thursday (0820 GMT).

A search for the missing helicopter, which belongs to Russia's Voluntary Association of Assistance to the Army, Air Force and Navy, has resulted in nothing yet. More than 100 rescuers with five airborne vehicles and nine units of equipment were still searching.

The helicopter was reportedly flying on a commercial mission from Tugur to a village in Khabarovsk Krai in the Far East region.
