BOGOTA, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Twelve members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) guerilla group were killed during a fighting with the army, Colombia's military said Monday.
Four of the rebels were killed in the southern department of Putumayo.
"During the fighting, which took place on the La Esmeralda trail in the town of Puerto Leguizamo, military units killed four members of the 48th front, captured four, and forced another three guerrilla fighters to voluntarily surrender," the military said.
The government troops have recovered some weapons and supplies, including six rifles, a handgun, 30 camping gears, a half ton of rations, radios, a GPS device and ammunition.
The Colombian government and FARC are currently in peace talks to put an end to the five-decade armed struggles.
