Czech PM's plane lands safely in Moscow despite unexpected window cracks

MOSCOW, May 26 (Xinhua) -- A plane carrying Czech Prime Minister Petr Necas landed safely in Moscow on Sunday with a cracked cockpit window.

The Airbus A319, heading for Moscow from Prague with Necas aboard, was crossing the Belorussian airspace as a window in the cockpit suddenly cracked, according to local media reports.

The pilots decided to descend the plane to a lower altitude and even considered an emergency landing upon detecting the cracks, the RIA Novosti news agency reported.

The crew later decided to continue to fly to Moscow. The plan landed safely in the Russian capital at night with no one onboard injured.

Necas is starting his official visit to Russia on Monday, and will hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Black Sea resort of Sochi.

Economic cooperation, joint energy projects and humanitarian exchanges will be top on the agenda, the Kremlin said earlier.
