Vietnam has new finance minister

HANOI, May 24 (Xinhua) -- The Vietnam's National Assembly (NA) on Friday approved the government's nomination of Dinh Tien Dung as finance minister of Vietnam with 71.28 percent of votes in favor.

The legislature also voted in favor a resolution relieving Dung of his position as General Auditor, paving the way for the legislative ratification of the government's proposed nomination. ?

At the ongoing fifth session of the 13th NA on Thursday, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung proposed General Auditor Dinh Tien Dung to replace his predecessor Vuong Dinh Hue who was assigned to head the Party Central Committee's Economic Commission.

Born in 1961, Dung was elected State General Auditor of Vietnam in August 2011 by the NA, local online Voice of Vietnam VOV reported.
