Japan may ultimately ruin its state image by making troubles and provoking other Asian countries regardless of the consequences.
Despite other Asian countries oppositions, 168 members of Japan’s congress visited the Yasukuni Shrine on April 23. On the same day, Japan’s right wingers illegally entered into China’s sea area of the Diaoyu Islands.
Japan’s two farces are of the same nature - ruining its relationship with other Asian countries and challenging the post-WWII international order.
No matter how Japan unscrupulously flaunts, there will be no good result for the ambitious country. Visiting the Yasukuni Shrine has re-exposed Japan’s ideologism about the wrong view of history, which made the country further isolated in Asia. Under Chinese marine surveillance’s pressure, Japan’s right wingers had to leave the sea area of China’s Diaoyu Islands.
If Japan refuses to draw a clear distinction with its aggression history, it will not completely integrate into the international community and build friendship with Asian countries. Some Japanese of insight have already feel stress about this fact.
Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has revealed his ambition for a more powerful Japan, which made the group of right wingers cheerful. But the “powerful Japan” in their illusion is a Japan that dares to undermine regional security and wants to get rid of the restrain of Post-WWII international order.
Abe has benefited from catering to and leading the right wing force. He is accumulating political capital for the coming senate election with the same trick. However, Abe may forget one thing that there is no bottom line for the sentiment for revenge.
As a political leader, Abe should keep essential reason and clear mind. The international trend should not be the chip for Japan’s domestic competition. The world trend of peace, development, cooperation and win-win situation will never be kidnapped by Japan’s right wing force. Japan has no strength to overturn the post-WWII international order arrangement.
It’s time for Japan to seriously think about how to get out of its dilemma. Making troubles and provoking other Asian countries will only harm Japan’s state image, and makes it not be accepted by the international society as a country without future.
