Snow disrupts traffic in France

PARIS, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- More heavy snowfalls and frost on Sunday caused cancellation and delays in air and railways traffic in France.

"The weather is getting worse this morning. 40 percent of flights are cancelled. Snowfall is forecast for Paris this night and tomorrow," Paris airport authority ADP said on its website, calling passengers to check the revised timetable before boarding.

The country's railway company SNCF said trains traffic was also affected by thick snow in all destinations. It also restricted the speed limit of high-speed trains TGV that will cause was restricted causing up to 40 minutes of delay.

In Paris and its suburb, "bus service was completely stopped," the French transport operator RATP said.

According to Meteo France, the country's weather agency, 45 departments in the northern and eastern France were put under orange on predicted heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures till Monday morning.

The agency expected to report snowfall up to 20 cm, with risk of ice damage on electricity and telephone networks.
