NEW DELHI, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Indian, Pakistani military officers will meet on Monday at the LIne-of-Control (LoC) in Kashmir how to de-escalate the tension there after a week-long confrontation in which two Indian soldiers and two of their Pakistani counterparts were killed, said local media on Sunday.

Pakistan on Sunday agreed to a flag meeting in Poonch at 13:00 p.m. on Monday. The meeting will be at brigadier level, according to the reports by local TV channels.

Tension has remained high since last Sunday when Pakistan accused India of crossing the LoC in Kashmir killing one Pakistani soldier. This was followed by the killing of two Indian soldiers on Tuesday by Pakistan troops on the LoC.

Indian and Pakistan troops on late Saturday night traded heavy gunfire along the Line of Control in Poonch sector after the movement of a group of suspected infiltrators was detected, said local TV channel Times Now.

The firing involving small arms and mortars continued intermittently overnight till 02:00 a.m. Sunday, said the report.

While some Indian military officials have hinted at tougher response to alleged violation of ceasefire by Pakistan at LoC in Kashmir, the Indian government has stuck to solving the dispute through diplomatic channel and established mechanism between the armies of the two countries.
