Snow-capped mountains rim Sayram Lake in Xinjiang

Photo taken in early May shows snow-capped mountains beside Sayram Lake in Bortala Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. Sayram Lake is the largest and highest alpine lake in Xinjiang, about 20km long from east to west, 30km wide from north to south and 90.5 meters deep at the greatest depth. It occupies an area of 457 square kilometers, with the holding capacity of 21 billion cubic meters. (CNS/Wang Tiesuo)
