Pu'er is home to the most diversified minority culture, as there are 26 peoples in Pu'er, including 14 nationalities which have lived there for generations, accounting for 61 percent of the total population of Pu'er.
In addition to colorful and splendid minority culture, the culture of Lahu, Wa and other minorities that entered socialist society directly from slave society or primitive society represents national traditional culture with the most original features throughout China and even in the world. Therefore, Pu'er is a national culture museum and a folk custom garden as well.
Through ages, 14 nationalities including Yi, Hani, Dai, Lahu and Wa ethnic minorities have inhabited here for generations. They cultivated the land diligently, lived in great harmony, pursued co-prosperity and created rich and diverse national culture.
