Last summer vacation, at the invitation of a friend he met on the subway, Laowang took a trip to Yunnan with a fellow Cameroonian. The presence of these foreign friends brought great joy to the local townsfolk there, who took turns to treat them to dinner and drinks.
"China is so pretty and the Chinese friends are so nice, they're all my buddies," Laowang uttered cheerfully, slightly drunk after a few sips of Chinese wine.
At an Overseas Students Chinese Speaking Contest organized by his school last semester, Laowang impressed his audience with a collection of funny stories that happened to him while living in China.
"China and Cameroon have distinctively different cultures, but both are my home now," he said emotionally at the end of the speech.
Life has been busy for Laowang lately, as he intends to enroll in the post-graduate International Business program in UIBE and is preparing for the entrance exams.
"Before I came to China, I didn't expect I'd be staying this long. Now, I don't want to leave, and I want my happy life in China to continue," he laughs, his face full of happiness and contentment.
