BEIJING, Jan. 22 (People's Daily Online)—People's Daily Online today launched a German-language website (german.people.cn) along with its mobile app and iPad app as part of its continuing effort to enhance global influence.
The website aims to introduce information about China's politics, economy, society, education, science, culture and tourism to German-speaking Internet users. It will strive to create a new platform of understanding and communication between Internet users in China and in German-speaking countries including Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
"People's Daily Online has attached great importance to enhance its global influence in recent years. The German-language version, being the eighth foreign language version of our company, will create a new platform for communication between China and German-speaking countries, and will open a new chapter in cultural exchanges between them," said Liao Hong, president of People's Daily Online, at the launching ceremony.
People's Daily Online now offers service to world readers in eight foreign languages - English, Japanese, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Korean, and German.
