He said that the idea of the bank was to gather together a part of the currency reserves and use them for infrastructure projects within BRICS and elsewhere, not only in developed countries but also in developing countries.

Cultural Exchanges Need Support from Companies
In September, Brazilian culture week opened in China and the Brazilian embassy held 50 events in Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Macao and Hong Kong, with events covering different expressions of Brazilian culture, music, dance, literature, painting, and photography. One objective was to give exposure in China to Brazilian artists that went beyond the stereotypes of carnival, soccer, and so on.
Meanwhile, from October to November, Chinese culture week was held in Brazil.
However, according to the ambassador, the deepening of cultural exchanges needs more imagination and effort.
He pointed out that cultural exchanges have been limited in scale and long-term development by an excessive dependency on government funds.. He called for private companies on both sides to sponsor and give contributions to cultural activities.
Chinese Subway Trains to Serve the World Cup and Olympic Games in Rio
The 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games will be held in Rio de Janeiro. In September, China signed an agreement with Brazil's Metro Barra according to which China will provide 90 subway trains to Brazil. The trains will be capable of operating in temperatures of up to 56 degrees Celsius.
The government of Rio de Janeiro has bought a number of trains for Rio's underground system, which are already in operation. As the network increases, the potential for exporting Chinese trains would increase. "Enjoy a trip in a Chinese carriage in our subway system," he said.
The ambassador praised China's unparalleled development in its railway network and high speed trains. He noted that China can help Brazil in its infrastructure projects.
It is probable that from early next year, Brazil will open the bidding process for a number of railways. Furthermore, infrastructure programs worth hundreds of billions of dollars will be launched in the next four or five years, the ambassador said.
He offered a warm welcome to, and expressed strong confidence in China's participation: "There will be competition. But I'm sure that with Chinese productivity and competitiveness, China can take a substantial share of those projects."
