BEIJING, Aug. 21 -- Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli met on Wednesday with John Ellis "Jeb" Bush, former governor of the U.S. state of Florida.
Zhang, also a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said China-U.S. relations have generally maintained a positive momentum.
He said it took hard work on both sides to develop bilateral links and the current state of mutual cooperation.
He said building a new type of relationship between the two powers requires wisdom, vision and substantive action on both sides.
"The two sides should continue to work on strengthening dialogue and cooperation in various areas so as to advance China-U.S.relations along the track of sustained growth," Zhang said.
Bush expressed readiness to continue to play an active role in advancing bilateral relations and trade.
