To deal with economic work in the second half of the year, the country should carry on with stable growth based on coordination, restructuring, promoting reforms, properly handling issues with overall impacts and promoting sustained and healthy economic growth, Xi said.

More efforts should be made to boost industrial restructuring, with tackling production overcapacity as the focus. Urbanization should be promoted in an active and steady way. Population sizes in various cities should be adjusted properly. More efforts should be made to improve the attractiveness of small and mid-sized cities, and the principles of economizing on land use and protecting ecology and the environment must be consistent, Xi said.

Further work should be made to step up financing supervision, guard against and defuse risks, and facilitate financial services for the real economy, Xi said.

More efforts should be carried out to safeguard and improve people's well-being and to ensure basic public services to encourage every individual to work hard and live a well-off life through hard work, Xi said.

During the meeting, Li Keqiang reported on economic work in the first half of the year and introduced plans for economic work in the second half.
