Highlight 5: Maritime parade manifests traditional friendship of the two navies
According to the plan, vessels and aircraft of the Chinese and Russian sides will hold a maritime military parade after the exercise. At the parade, navy leaders from both sides will board Varyag cruiser and inspect the 18 water surface vessels, 1 submarine, 3 fixed-wing aircraft, 5 ship-borne helicopters and 2 special operation units participating in the joint exercise.
Highlight 6: The exercise will not change Chinese Navy's offshore defense strategy
According to Yang Junfei, "There are three goals for this maritime joint exercise. First, to consolidate and develop China-Russia comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership and improve the level of strategic cooperation between the two countries; second, to enhance strategic mutual trust and deepen pragmatic cooperation between the two militaries; third, to exercise the two navies' command and coordination in performing maritime joint military operations and improve their capabilities in jointly coping with maritime threats."
"It is worth pointing out that the exercise doesn't target any third party and China's offshore defense strategy doesn't change," added Yang Junfei.
