3. Houhai
Located northwest of the Forbidden City, the area is popular not only with Western tourists but also with young and older locals.
Houhai Park is made up of three large lakes lined with willow trees. Xihai Lake is in the north, Houhai Lake is in the middle, and Qianhai Lake is in the south. The cultured Houhai neighborhood stretches along the three lakes with many restaurants, shops and bars scattered around the ancient alleyways and hutongs.
