Ancient coming-of-age ceremony revived in Xi’an (7)

Nearly 40 young people wearing Han Chinese clothing revived the ancient rituals of coming-of-age ceremony outside the Han Great Wall relics in Xi’an on May 1, 2013, which has drown a lot of attention from the tourists. The ceremony of Han Dynasty has a history of thousands of years. The core of the ritual lies in granting headwear to the young people - “guan” for men and “ji” for women. After the granting, the recipients are deemed as adults with social and family responsibility.
