Xu Qiliang is endorsed as vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China at the fifth plenary meeting of the first session of the 12th National People's Congress (NPC) in Beijing, capital of China, March 15, 2013. (Xinhua)

General Xu, born in March 1950, is currently a member of the Political Bureau of the 18th CPC Central Committee and a vice chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission.
