People's Daily Online)  08:08, January 06, 2013

Humble dwelling under the bridge :There are more than 10 residential buildings under the 300-meter-long Shuikou Bridge, with the minimum distance between the roof and the bottom of the bridge being less than 1 meter. These buildings look like the piers of the bridge. Hundreds of households have been living under this bridge, which is the eastern exit of Guiyang city and the way to Longdongbao airport with heavy traffic. Every time when heavy vehicles pass by, the buildings with shake with the bridge. The residents already are already used to the small cracks on the walls and leakage in the ceiling. In 1990s, the land was acquired by the local government for the airport highway construction, and local residents were relocated to underneath bridge as compensation. (Xinhua/Ou Dongqu)
