Malian volunteer Boubacar offers TCM treatments in China (5)

Diarra Boubacar, 48, is an African specializing in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Having good command of Mandarin, the Malian volunteer has acted as a doctor giving treatment to the wounded in the quake-hit Luozehe Town in the wake of the disaster occurred on Sept. 7.

Like Norman Bethune, a Canadian volunteer doctor, who devoted all his life to save lives and aid China's anti-Japanese aggression effort some 70 years ago, Boubacar have also chosen to stay in China and put all his energy to the country's public welfare and undertakings since he got a PHD in TCM in Chengdu University of TCM in 1997.

The African doctor told Xinhua reporter that it was not the first time he had come to Yiliang, where he took part in the work of health treatment some ten years ago when a mudslide torn the county.

Besides, Boubacar had also served as a volunteer in the relief work in catastrophes of Yangtze flooding and Tibet's snowstorm. In the devastating Wenchuan earthquake in 2008, he worked in the disaster area for a month, offering free acupuncture treatment for the needed there. The African doctor said he had considered himself as a member of this country, so he ought to do what he could do.
