Provincial police chief killed in Afghan blast (3)

Afghan officials and pro-government figures have been repeatedly targeted by the militants over the past years as the Taliban intensified activities against government interest across the country.

The insurgent group, which has been waging an insurgency in more than one decade, has warned civilians to stay away from official gatherings, military convoys and centers regarded as the legitimate targets by militants.
