China lodges solemn representations with U.S. over semiconductor export control measures
BEIJING, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- China has lodged solemn representations with the United States over its latest control measures on semiconductor exports and sanctions on Chinese companies, a foreign ministry spokesperson said on Tuesday.
Noting that China has lodged solemn representations with the United States over maliciously suppressing China's scientific and technological progress, spokesperson Lin Jian told a daily news briefing that China always firmly opposes the United States overstretching the concept of national security, abusing export controls and imposing illegal unilateral sanctions and long-arm jurisdiction on Chinese companies.
"Such practices seriously undermine the international economic and trade order, disrupt the stability of the global production and supply chain, and undermine the interests of all countries," Lin said. The spokesman also noted that China has urged the United States to respect the laws of the market economy and the principle of fair competition, and China will take necessary measures to firmly safeguard its own security and development interests.
